MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East (UE), through its Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA), in cooperation with Philippine Ballet Theatre (PBT), will present the Le Corsaire (The Pirates) today, 2 p.m., at the UE Theater. Admission is free to the UE community.

The PBT interpretation of Le Corsaire features main dancers Veronica Ylagan and Lemuel Capa to play the lead roles Medora and Conrad, respectively. Le Corsaire was presented by PBT last summer at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo.

UE OCA director Gener Caringal, former PBT artistic director, collaborated with PBT artistic director Ronilo Jaynario to bring the show to UE.

Ylagan is a UE College of Arts and Sciences-Manila Bachelor of Science in Biology sophomore. Capa, a third year UE College of Education Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in MAPEH (Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health) student, is also a principal dancer of the UE Silanganan Dance Troupe.
